Crystal River Heritage
Council
The Coastal Heritage Museum in Crystal River is housed in the
Old city Hall on Citrus Avenue. A picturesque 1939 building,
the museum features a diorama of 1927 Crystal River, a fish
house, jail cell and weaving loom. Open Tues-Friday from 11am-3
pm.
Floral City Heritage Council
The Society's Floral City Heritage Council has identified a
Floral City Historic District and gained its recognition on
the National Register of Historic Places. A regular feature
of the Council's activities is a Folklife Day on the first Saturday
of December each year. The historic oaks were planted in 1884
a year after the village was laid out and surveyed.
Hernando Heritage Council
The Historic Hernando School is the last public owned historic
structure in the town of Hernando. When restoration is complete,
it will serve as a cultural arts and history center, benefiting
youth and adults. Adaptive reuse of the old school as a community
center, including the location of not-for-profit organizations,
will serve all segments of our county, including the needy.
